Ho, Ho, Holiday Giveaway!

Ho, Ho, Holiday Giveaway!

Hot cocoa with marshmallows, holly, sparkling lights, cozy knitted hats and scarves — the holidays are here! At Scratch and Peck, we’re celebrating by participating in Festival of Trees, a local fundraiser that benefits a senior activity center in our community. We’ve decorated a tree (in pure Scratch and Peck style!) that will be auctioned off at the Whatcom Council on Aging’s Gala Dinner. The tree was assembled in our office in early November, and as decorations were crafted and ornaments individually painted, they were hung on the tree, creating a suspenseful build until we finally had a fully decorated Christmas tree. Maybe slow decorating will be the next slow food movement!

To help you with your own holiday preparations, we’ve put together a holiday gift guide and … wait for it … our 2nd annual holiday giveaway! Starting in December, we will have three giveaways — one right here on this blog, one on Instagram, and one on Facebook. Details below on the giveaways, but first, here are our suggestions for gifts for the chicken lovers in your life.

Our chickens are crazy for cucumbers! They get very excited the moment they see them. They also love warm cooked oatmeal for breakfast after a cold night here in Pennsylvania. They literally pounce on the bowls full of oatmeal, quickly gobbling it all down.

During the hot summer months my flocks favorite treats are cool cucumbers and melons, they especially love frozen garden treats. Right now, they’re enjoying the “insides” of our old squash and pumpkins.
