Our 3 Grain Scratch is an excellent treat with slower digesting grains that help regulate body temperature to avoid overheating during hot weather. Scatter 3 Grain Scratch around you to train your flock to come when you call and support natural scratching and pecking behavior, or toss the treats inside the coop to encourage your birds to return to their roosts. Suggested feeding age: 9+ months.
Our 3 Grain Scratch is an indulgent treat for your flock – don’t let it spoil their dinner! Treats should make up 10% or less of each bird’s diet, no matter their age. The remaining 90% of their diet should come from an age-appropriate complete poultry feed. Suggested feeding age: 9+ months.
During hot weather, our 3 Grain Scratch is a nutritious treat that includes oats, a slow-carb grain that is rich in fiber, takes more time to digest, and helps keep glucose stable which, in turn, helps regulate body temperature and avoid overheating. We recommend feeding your flock Scratch + Corn as a treat in cold weather because corn is a starchy carbohydrate that fuels energy to help birds stay warm. Additionally, the cracked corn in the mix requires more work for the digestive system to process, which produces more heat inside the hen’s body.
