Ingredients:
- 1 cup coconut oil
- 1/2 cup peanut butter (unsweetened, unsalted)
- 1 cup Organic Cracked Corn
- 1 cup Grubs
- 1/2 cup almond flour
- 1/4 cup fresh cranberries, microwaved until soft
Instructions:
- Melt the Base:
In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the coconut oil and peanut butter together. Stir occasionally until fully combined. - Add the Goodies:
Remove the saucepan from heat and add the cracked corn, grubs, almond flour, and any additional seeds. Mix well to ensure everything is evenly coated in the oil mixture. If mixture is too watery, add more almond flour as needed. - Shape Your Treats:
- Option 1: Drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto a cutting board or cookie sheet lined with wax paper, shaping them into cookies.
- Option 2: Pour the entire mixture onto a wax or parchment-lined cookie sheet and spread evenly. You can cut shapes after freezing.
- Freeze:
Place your treats in the freezer for 12-24 hours, or until solid. - Prep for Hanging:
Once frozen, remove the treats and, if needed, cut into your desired shapes. Use a skewer to poke a hole near the top of each shape and thread yarn or twine through the hole for hanging. - Store Extras:
Keep any unused treats in the freezer for up to 6 months. Hang them in trees for your chickens, ducks, or wild birds to enjoy, or feed them directly to your flock as they need a protein-packed winter boost.
Enjoy spreading holiday cheer to your feathered friends!
