Grubs

Reviews

We are proud to be the first feed manufacturer to be both certified organic and non-GMO verified.

  1. Our chickens LOVE their grubs. In fact, if we forget to toss them a handful when we feed them in the morning, they will SCREAM at us until we do. It’s always fun with chickens, and they say it’s always fun with these grubs.

  2. Of course all chickens love grubs and they don’t care where we buy them, but I love the S&P grubs because there is much less breakage and crumbs. Other brands I use seem to have too much dust and waste but these are whole tasty grubs. My girls will leap up for these treats!

  3. The 5-star rating comes straight from our flock: this has been the best treat they have been given over the past few years; it is made of bigger, fresher, “tastier” black soldier flies than any other comparable product in the market.
The other reason I support their rating is the company’s decision to organize itself as a B-Corp. and its commitment to sustainability. It is a way of doing business, I – as a buyer – would like to see embraced more broadly. Great work everyone. Thank you!!

  4. My hens love these treats! They will come running from a long way off when I call them in order to get them. They are easy for small hands to grab and toss – great for the grandkids to help with the birds. They only need a few to make them happy so they go a long way. Great product!

    • Isn’t it funny how they hear the bag crinkle and come running. Thanks for the review!!

  5. I just got my first flock of chicks, and I am using tiny pieces of the grubs to train them to socialize them and to come when I call. While I know my chickas are not the brightest birds on the planet, they have learned this call VERY quickly! They LOVE the grubs and its hilarious to watch them chase the brighter birds who know to “Grab the Grub” fastest. Great product – perfectly dried and snappable to make smaller treats for these tiny peeps.

    • As a right of passage here at Scratch and Peck- we have all tried the grubs. LOL Glad the girls love them!

  7. I love Cluckin’ Good Grubs and so do our chickens. We tried the other brands of mealworms but I noticed that the mealworms smelled foul and the girls eggs caused digestive issues. So I decided to try the S&P Cluckin’ Good Grubs. The grubs smelled nice enough to eat myself and no more digestive upset from the eggs. Thank you S&P! I am very happy to be able to get local chicken feed produced within my own state and do the environment a favor at the same time.

  8. Our chickens, too, really run when it is “scratch time”. Late in the day we toss out a mix of scratch grain (from S&P, of course) and these grubs. The first handful is the real mad dash and the grubs are the first items picked out. We, too, are happy to have USA sourcing of an organic product. Keep up the good work, Scratch and Peck.

  10. It’s lovely having a source for high quality grubs — no way I’m feeding my girls (and their fella) China-sourced mealworms. While the chickens run when I toss out most excellent Scratch & Peck scratch, they RACE for grubs. I joke that I’m training racing chickens — or Demolition Derby, now that it’s fall, with leaves on the ground, they sometimes slide and floof into each other 🙂

I particularly like feeding them grubs during molting season because they can use all the high-quality protein they can get.

I can’t thank Scratch & Peck enough for all their quality products.

  12. My chickens run to me when they see or hear the rustle of the bag. So glad I don’t have to get mealworms from China anymore. They like these better than the other brand of grubs.

These are great to get them to go where I need them in a hurry and for socializing.

A very high quality and ecological treat!

  13. I bought the small 6 oz trial bag thinking my chickens will eat a few here and there. I was buying the dried meal worms but as my chickens got older, they became disinterested in them and not really eating them. I didn’t want to spend money on something they would not eat and I figured if they didn’t eat these, I would give them to the wild birds. BOY was I wrong! My girls went crazy for these grubs. They hear any kind of bag crinkle and they come running. I can’t believe how much my chickens love these. I am happy to splurge for my girls with these grubs and I am so happy that they come from the USA. Thank you Scratch and Peck for offering these treats.

  14. I ordered some grub from another supplier and they were of much lesser quality then your grubs. The other grubs ere totally brown and dried – almost as if they had been cooked to long. there was no bargain there

  15. My backyard chickens flip over these grubs and I swear that the taste of their eggs is even better since I started feeding the grubs once a day. That’s not just my opinion, but has been noticed by several friends whom I share my eggs with. I’ve always heard that the best tasting eggs come from hens that free-range and find bugs and other edibles in nature. My girls are only able to free-range for a short time per day, so I’m pleased to be able to supplement their diet with these grubs. Never again will I feed them dried mealworms grown who-knows-where. My family and friends eat these eggs! I prefer the pacific northwest and I trust this company. I also use the grubs to get the hens back to their coop in a hurry. They come running the minute they see me fetching the bag. I buy the larger bag and it lasts me quite a while. Not cheap, but worth it. I highly recommend this product!
