Naturally Free Layer is a Non-GMO Project Verified and Certified Organic product. We use a blend of Pacific Northwest grown whole grains from Certified Organic farms throughout the region.

Our Layer Feeds are designed to be the healthiest and most natural product available for your laying hens. This complete Layer ration is formulated in two ways; our Soy Free Layer contains corn and our Naturally Free Layer does not contain corn. The grains are left naturally whole in this feed rather than highly processed into pellets.

Naturally Free Layer Feed contains high amounts of calcium and slightly lower protein levels than our Naturally Free Grower. The calcium is used by hens to produce strong eggshells and should only be fed to birds that are laying or will lay in the near future.

This feed is suitable for ducks, geese and all waterfowl!

Feeding Information

Your hens should be approaching their full grown size at approximately 18-20 weeks of age. Begin introducing Naturally Free Layer gradually to allow for a slow adjustment to the new feed formula. This is more important when switching from a different type of feed such as crumbles or pellets as your chickens may not immediately know how to consume a mash style feed. Be sure to offer fresh water, plenty of grit and you can begin to supplement oyster shell at this age.

Feel free to continue offering 3-Grain Scratch or Scratch n’ Corn by tossing around their run to promote foraging (scratching and pecking) or use as a training tool!

My birds aren’t laying this time of year. Is it okay to switch to grower instead of layer for winter as they don’t need the added calcium/minerals in the layer?

I can’t say enough about this feed! We free range our flock of thirteen hens on six acres here in Washington and supplement their diet with 4 pounds of food every night during the cold months. Last winter we were feeding Purina Layena Sunfresh and had no layers. This winter we switched to Scratch and Peck 18% Layer and have been getting 7-10 eggs every day! We also give our family milk cow the Scratch and Peck Barley and Oats. Love these products!

I admit I was skeptical about this feed (Naturally Free Layer) and the much higher price than my normal pellet feed. I have 2 grandsons with many food allergies and they definitely can’t eat anything with all the soy and corn found in the pellets so I decided to give it a try. When it arrived and I opened the bags I was surprised to see the feed looked like what I remember from feeding our chickens as a kid. It smelled good and looked good enough to eat myself. I have been feeding the flock (6 hens and a rooster) this for almost a month now. My chickens freerange my 20 acre farm but they won’t leave the coop until after they are full now. Before as soon as I opened the coop in the morning they were out the door and immediately exploring. I take that as a good sign that they like and enjoy the feed. I also noticed egg production is up. I was normally getting about 22-24 eggs a week from them and now I’m getting 25-28. I can only attribute that to the feed as everything else is the same. I highly recommend this feed.

My chickens swarmed the feeder when I filled it with Naturally Free Layer! I was initially worried because they were eating so much. I love this product and so do my chickens. Problem is, I’m going through the feed twice as fast because they are eating so much more!

Amazing feed, and worth every penny. I have one of the healthiest and better looking flocks around, and I owe it all to their this feed. I also mix in the starter kit supplements so my flock digests their food better, and as a treat I give my hens three-day fermented NF 3-Grain, which drives them nuts (

Feeding this to our flock of 6 free-ranging Ancona and Cayuga ducks. They love it, look super healthy, and are laying well year round. I am allergic to corn, so very pleased to be able to find a corn-free feed for my flock.

Our daughter is allergic to corn(and all corn derived ingredients) and so we opted to get our own hens. Little did I know how difficult it would be to find corn-free chicken feed! I was so grateful when I found your product and even more thrilled when my hens love it! They free range half day and I find them wandering in now and then for a quick nibble! They love it. They have laid since January at 20 weeks old (even the guinea hen’s and Easter Eggers!)on this feed and free range- we could not be happier!

My ladies have been on organic scratch and peck feed sense they were one day old. They absolutely love this feed! In fact I went through a bit of a rough patch and had to by the organic feed from my local feed store and my chickens went on an actual hunger strike!!! They didn’t eat until I bought scratch and peck again(No worries I rebought the feed right away). I definitely will be a life long customer with scratch and peck feed.

Not happy to hear about their hunger strike (chickens with attitude!), but we’re thrilled to hear that they love our feeds!
